Comment from Chairman of the YJC Advisory Committee

While I receive the news of YJC’s merger with IJC with some sadness because fellow CAC member, Thio Tse Gan and I are from the pioneer batch of YJC students, we see this as an exciting opportunity for the two colleges to work together as a family to give our best to future generations of students.

We have to be pragmatic.

One of the most important values that makes Singapore successful, is the Will to move Forward and Change, if we have to. The world is changing fast.  Our good memories will always stay with us reinforced by the heritage centre that is being set up so that past staff and students of both YJC and IJC can remember the experiences they have undergone and the strong friendships they have forged.

We don’t have many occasions that allow us to start something by bringing together the best of two colleges. While the pioneer batch of YJC had the privilege to start and create history, may that privilege be passed on to the pioneer batch of the new merged institution and let them start another wonderful chapter.

Let’s support this exercise with open arms.
- Mr Michael Teo Kian Peng
