Economics

The Economics programme at YJC aspires to develop students to think like economists. We provide students with a broad understanding of fundamental economic principles, theories and concepts, and the methods of economic analysis, so that they may:

  • understand the behaviour of various economic agents and see the interconnectedness of political, social and economic issues;
  • understand the underlying causes and consequences of economic issues;
  • evaluate the policy decisions to resolve economic issues.

We aim to develop critical reading, thinking and writing skills through close teacher-student engagement. We will teach students learning routines to encourage and enable them to make their thinking visible – an essential skill for university-bound students. Current affairs resources are also used to enhance students’ awareness of economic issues and to anchor their learning in the real world.
