The three compulsory H1 subjects for students are H1GP (General Paper), H1MT (Mother tongue) and H1PW (Project Work).

Students must indicate their three choices of H2 subject combination codes, the H2 subjects & one H1 subject that is different from the three H2 subjects.

Students who passed their GCE O-Level Higher Mother Tongue with grade D7 or better are exempted from H1 MT. Mother Tongue B is only offered to students who offered CLB, MLB, TLB or with Mother Tongue grades D7, E8 or F9 in their GCE O-Level Examination.

- L1R5 (excludes bonus points) or 12 points or less. This L1R5 aggregate score must include strong 'O' Level grades in relevant subjects.
-Students may continue with four H2 subjects in JC2 if they obtain 'C' grade or better in all their H2 subjects in the JC1 Overall Grades
  • For all the options, at least one of the subjects must be from a contrasting discipline (i.e there must be subjects from both             Mathematics & Science and Humanities & the Arts)
  • All students must offer General Paper, Project Work and Mother Tongue (Chinese Language, Malay Language or Tamil     Language , Malay Language or Tamil Language). Mother Tongue B is only offered to students who offered CLB, MLB or TLB, or have Mother Tongue grades D7, E8 or F9 in their GCE O-Level Examination. 
  • All languages at H1 level, including foreign languages (e.g. Japanese, German and French), do not count as contrasting subjects.
  • H3 subjects do not count as contrasting subjects.
H3 subjects are only offered to students after JC1 Promotional Exams. For students who would like to opt for a H3 subject, he/she MUST have offered it as a H2 subject. Students will be recommended to take up H3 subjects based on their outstanding performance in JC1 tests and exams. In addition, recommendations by subject tutors based on students’ passion and flair for the subject at H2 level would also be taken into consideration.
